Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion,
which cannot be shaken but endures forever.
As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
so the LORD surrounds his people
both now and forevermore.
Psalm 125:1-2
Peace of mind and the altitude? Some might wonder what peace of mind has to do with altitude and if it should have been attitude instead.
For having peace of mind could more easily be connected to another emotional concept than a geometrical one.
But no, you've read well it's altitude not attitude.
Having that settled, on some there might now dawn a sense of conception of the matter as they could relate to for example finding peace of mind in viewing the serenity of earth from a mountain top.
It's wonderful to see the ocean and nature while standing on a higher level.
And because the air gets healthier higher up it could also result in peace of the mind as the physical well being gets better.
So you see, taking these things into perspective, there could be a connection between these two seemingly non comparible concepts from a natural point of view.
But there is more than meets the eye or in this case the physical eye.
Spiritual altitude
"For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north"
Isaiah 14:13
This scripture is about satan who exalted himself in his heart and wanted to rise above God and His faithful angels.
This was his view of things.
We can learn from this scripture that God's throne is somewhere in heaven on a mountain in the north.
Now as God sat there comfortably on His throne enjoying the mountain view, do you think there was ever a moment when He did not have peace of mind because of satan's view of things?
I can assure you that there is always peace in God's heart and mind.
Why? This is easily answered; because He is all powerful and almighty and only looks at things through His eyes from His altitude.
Surely the nations are like a drop in a bucket;
they are regarded as dust on the scales;
He weighs the islands as though they were fine dust.
Isaiah 40:15
His point of view is the truth that sets our minds free to be at peace once we adapt to it.
As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Isaiah 55:9
God's view on things is the right view and will come to pass.
Northern lights
As I watched the amazing display of the aurora of the northern polar lights on the net, I was all in awe of God's greatness.
Then I wondered if it was just a glimpse of what heaven radiates.
As we view these wonderful lights from below, the view from a higher altitude is simply amazing; It looks like a crown of glorious light right on top of the earth.
Likewise there is our own altitude of our understanding, viewing, of things in life, and God's.
When people see gloom and hopelessness, God sees a crown of glory and joy.
He promised Abraham to make him into a great nation that would last forever.
His promise to King David that Israel would always have a king, who would descent from him, was fulfilled as Christ graced the earth with His divine presence.
But today we see again how Israel is being surrounded by people who do not want all God's promises for them to be fulfilled.
Some even want the nation of Israel to be nonexistent and we have seen the catastrophe that has happened to the Jewish people all through time, but God has brought them back from the depths of despair to be a nation of hope once again for it's time for the fulfillment of all His promises to them.
Though it were people who did them wrong from God's point of view the battle is mainly spiritual as satan is the one who tries to fight God and His people this way.
But the time has come for them to once again be under the reign of the King of glory, Christ the descendant of king David of the tribe of Judah just like God promised.
He will reign from the city of Jerusalem over all the inhabitants of the earth.
" Then the LORD will go out and fight against those nations, as He fights in the day of battle.
On that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south.
You will flee by my mountain valley, for it will extend to Azel. You will flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah.
Then the LORD my God will come, and all the holy ones with him." Zechariah 14 3:5
God's view is based on His spiritual altitude, He stands on it like on a mountain and it's a safe haven for all who trust in Him and His truth.
God split the waters, and He's going to split the mountain to fulfill His promises to Abraham.
Even so He will do miracles for all who also love Him and obey Him like Abraham, and have faith in His truthful view of things.
Christ has given us many promises but the most wonderful of all is to be forgiven of all sins through faith in Him and become His forever more.
If you want to reserve your seat beside Him in heaven and on earth, you need to take your mountain gear of faith and start climbing to His altitude where peace of mind reigns as the truth sets us free from our own limited view of things.
Blessings and love in Christ on this wonderful sunny day in April,
Monique
