Many thousands of years ago God saw that the world back then was filled with the detestable worship of demons, like the baal worship. Children were being sacrificed and there was all kind of immorality. So God decided that it was time to shine light in the darkness.
He searched for a noble heart and found Abraham whom He considered to be His friend. His plan was to shine His presence towards all people through His friend Abraham and his decendants.
He gave to Abraham all kinds of rules and regulations concerning serving Him and Abraham’s descendants were to abide by it also.

So He revealed Himself to Abraham and told him to leave the place that he lived in and travel to a country God had for him and his descendants. He traveled to Kanaan and went through the land that was inhabited by the the Kenites, the Kenezzites, the Kadmonites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.”
God wanted these people to see His light through Abraham and his descendants to give them a chance to repent from their sins. These people worshipped demons like baal. God is however a just and mercyfull God, so He will always let people know that they are sinning by showing them who He is and what He expects of them.

Abraham had a mission to be God’s representative to all these sinful people. So for many years he sojourned through Kanaan. God revealed to him that after his dead his descendants would reside in Egypt where they would be held in bondage for 400 years. Because only after 400 years would the iniquity of the Amorites be complete.
In other words, God would give the Canaanites 400 years to repent before he would destroy them.
During all that time God had a special promise to keep Abraham and his descendants safe. He would bless those who blessed them and curse those who cursed them. Ofcourse it did not mean that Abraham and his descendants were free from condemnation of God if they themselves sinned.
Genesis 12:
1 ” Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
5 And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.”
6 And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land.7 And the Lord appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the Lord, who appeared unto him.
Genesis 15
Then He said to Abram: “Know certainly that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them, and they will afflict them four hundred years. 14 And also the nation whom they serve I will judge; afterward they shall come out with great possessions. 15 Now as for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried at a good old age. 16 But in the fourth generation they shall return here, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.”
On the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying:
“To your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the River Euphrates— 19 the Kenites, the Kenezzites, the Kadmonites, 20 the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim, 21 the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.”

After Moses lead the Israelites out of the bondage of Egypt to freedom, God ordered him to start to make Canaan their nation. Through Joshua He continued to materialize the promise made to Abraham many centuries earlier.
Jerusalem
Today is December the 28th 2016. Many years have gone by since Abraham sojourned canaan and Joshua defeated the Jebusites. King David took over the city of the Jebusites after God made him king. It is called Jerusalem (Salem or peace) even as of this day.
2 Samuel 5:7
Nevertheless, David captured the fortress of Zion—which is the City of David.
Surprisingly God reveals to us in the book of revelations that He has a heavenly city named Jerusalem.

Revelations 2:2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,
10 “showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. 11 It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. 12 It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel. 13 There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west. 14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.”
God told Moses to build a replica of the ark of God, tabernacle of God and of many things that are with God in heaven.
This means that before there ever was an earthly Jerusalem there was already a heavenly Jerusalem.
It is written in the bible that there was a king of Salem ( earthly Jerusalem) named Melchizedek in the days of Abraham. This Melchizedek had no record of a father and a mother

Hebrews7:3
“Without father or mother, without genealogy, without beginning of days or end of life, resembling the Son of God, he remains a priest forever.”
He definitely was not of this earth. So this heavenly person was probably Jesus when He was not called Jesus yet and had not been born into a human body but was named the Word of God was king over Salem, Jerusalem, many centuries ago. He dwelled with the people in Salem and was their king.
The book of revelation tells us that Jesus will be king of the earthly Jerusalem during the millennium reign.
Revelations 20 :6b
“but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.”
Zechariah 14
16 Then the survivors from all the nations that have attacked Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the King, the Lord Almighty, and to celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles. 17 If any of the peoples of the earth do not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord Almighty, they will have no rain.
Zechariah 14:21b
And on that day there will no longer be a Canaanite[c] in the house of the Lord Almighty
After that God will dwell with us when the heavenly Jerusalem( Salem) descends from heaven on a new earth that we will receive.
Revelation 21
2Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
As you can see there is a Divine purpose for Jerusalem. It is a city in heaven and a city on earth both belonging to the great I Am. He dwelled in there already in the days of Abraham and will dwell with us again in the heavenly Jerusalem descending on the new earth.
Conclusion:
Looking at the situation in the middle east concerning Jerusalem it seems so clear that many do not understand that Jerusalem is the city of God and has been given to Abraham and his descendants. It was given to them for the sole purpose to worship Him there in the temple and be in His presence, like in the days of Melchisedek ( The Word of God) who dwelled with the people there in Salem.
Jerusalem is symbolically a replica of the Jerusalem in heaven made by God.
Jerusalem will be the stumbling block for many nations who try to solve the matter in a way that does not have all of the above in mind. It will ignite the war of Gog and Magog and Armageddon. These wars will proceed the coming of Jesus in Jerusalem.
Let us pray for the peace of Jerusalem the city of God, given to Abraham and his descendants to be a blessing to all the nations.
Blessings and love in Christ,
Monique
